Tuesday Update – Delayed Gratification (21 July)

I apologize for missing last week’s update, my head simply wasn’t in the game. Not because it was empty, but due to the opposite. My head is simply so full of ideas and thoughts and rabbit trails that every word seems stuck. Imagine opening your front door and 50 people try to walk through at once.

That is my brain right now. Bottle necked with abundance. The opposite of writer’s block, but nearly as debilitating!

Let me begin with some excellent news. My contributor’s copy of the Drabble Digest #7, Extraterrestrials Guidebook for Earth, arrived with a lovely check from Hyraeth Publishing. You can pick up your own copy HERE for $10.95. A big shout out and thank you to the editor, Terry Relf!

Ragman is sitting on the backburner right now, although I am scribbling down bits of plot development and conversations as they come to me. The idea is fully developed with a rough outline and very fleshed out characters, but parts of the story are eluding me. It will all string together soon, I am sure. I am very seasonal in my writing, and late fall and winter tends to be when i cozy up to my fiction-producing self.

Summer is my least productive writing season, as my physical self is solar powered and summer turns me into an outdoor working, making and doing machine. Thus, less time at the keyboard and that time tends to be short and sweet. Not less time scribbling in notebooks, though!

One major place my head has been is on a (possibly) large nonfiction project. I touched on it briefly in my last Tuesday update, a worldtender’s handbook. The full shape of it is still eluding me, but bits and pieces are coming together and I can almost grasp the full vision. If subversive and radical nonconsumption patterns are your thing, then this project will hopefully be of interest. I plan to write more about it over on Medium soon (of course I will share a nonscriber link here for everyone’s reading and sharing pleasure). I’ll leave you three words as a spoiler:

Localization

Diversification

Stabilization

It’s a big idea, and I am not even decided on a final form yet. Book? If so, self pubbed, trad pubbed, indy press? Zine? Graphic novel? Web-based ebook? Series of essays? No clue yet, but it is taking shape and I will hopefully have more in the coming weeks!

As always,

Your in hope,
